This was the only review guide I could find for this praxis subject test, so I decided to give it a try, despite high price and poor review.The print version might be slightly better, but the Kindle edition was TERRIBLE. There is no internal navigation, such as chapter markers that would allow you to move back and forth in the text without going through every single page.
The organization was nonsensical as if the pages had been scanned in the wrong order, jumping randomly from one topic to the next then back to the first much later. for example, the drama section spends time explaining various playwrights and historical genres of theatre, but with no respect to chronology, and often no reference to date. It will mention a 20th century writer, then skip back to medieval theater, then forward to comedy of manners, over to Kabuki theater, back to Shakespeare, and suddenly into the 19th century. If I didn't already know this material fairly well I would have been completely confused.
Other times, whole sections seem to have been left out. Particularly in the 2nd half of the book, topics will begin, then cut off mid sentence and never return. The literature section is practically non-exististant: it begins with just a few pages related to literature then shifts unexpectedly into how to conduct classroom research and create thesis statements. The following section is Language, which focuses on writing and seems to introduce the research essay, which the previous sections thesis and research material refers to.
There is one practice test at the end of the text, but the distractors are annoyingly labeled 1-5 instead of a-e, which is what the answer key refers to. Not too hard to figure out, but another example of poor editing

I did not realize that it is only part one of part 2 and can't find part two anywhere and I paid over $90 for it when it sells for $35 from the publisher that has ALL THE CONTENT IN IT!!! I spoke with the publishing company and they say that they are looking into other praxis study guide books being sold in sections.
One reviewer mentioned that the version appears to have been scanned out of order, jumping from subject to subject and skipping around time periods haphazardly. The truth is the print version is no better. The book has no layout to speak of, there is no such thing as a segue anywhere between the covers, and the entire mess reads like a schizophrenic word salad. The icing on the cake is the fact that the book is filled with misspellings and flatly incorrect information. Dates are completely incorrect (Ottavio Rinuccini released the first opera in 1954? That's pretty impressive considering he had been dead for about 3 centuries), and the grammar leaves something to be desired. The delicious irony of a study book about communication that can't communicate is just too much.
