I really enjoy this series. I read it years ago and have the first 4 books. I just found out that there are now 7 books in the series. So I decided to reread them. I have to admit, there are times where the main character is really annoying and immature, and it's frustrating to read. She's suppose to be a super independent woman living as a writer in San Francisco, but acts like a 13 year old at times. She makes bad decisions that lead the cops to roll their eyes at her. But overall, the story is addictive, the characters are amazing, especially anatoly, the hot Russian mystery man. So if you are looking for a good light hearted mystery novel, this is for you.

"Sex Murder and a Double Latte" was my first introduction to Kyra Davis. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. A swift paced, humor filled Murder Mystery, with a side order of sexy. It was a fun, light read. I will definitely be ordering more books by this author. Thank you Ms. Davis, for being so entertaining.
recently books have had trouble keeping my attention, but this series is brilliant. Its not perfect, but nothing is, but this is definitely worth reading more than once. Its characters are fun, and make you wish they were your friends. The only really big thing is the covers. The covers don't really match the stories going on inside, but that's not the authors fault. Its like whoever did the covers didn't even read the books they just looked at the title and went with that. So just completely ignore the covers and enjoy the prize inside.
I would like to give this book 3.5 stars. While the writing, editing, etc. we're really good, I had a hard time with some of Sophie's behaviors. ***possible spoiler*** I especially had a hard time even wanting to like her after the faked attack. (You will know what I mean when you read it.) I like Anatoly, but I am just not sure I want too read the next book in the series.
I am not the greatest fan of mysteries, but I am a little more interested in what I call "girly mysteries." Kyra Davis writes a fun and intelligent novel that I just could not put down! And Davis is now one of those authors that I watch and whose books I will pre-order. Even better than having good, fun, well-written "chick-lit," I appreciated having a heroine that I can relate to -- a multicultural woman with at least part black heritage. The women who purchase these novels aren't all tall, blond, straight-haired girls in stilettos, and the heroines of the books should reflect the diversity of the audience. This one does. Thanks, Ms. Davis.
If I'm not mistaken this is Kyra Davis' first novel and hopefully not her last. What a fun story! While it's not the makings of a classic, it's so fun and it kept my attention all the way through and that's enough for me. A little bit of everything in this one. Humor, strong friendships, sex and mystery! The character's are all well thought out and very engaging. I wanted to hang out with all of them. The mystery kept me guessing throughout the novel. Lots of twists and turns. The end was awesome and a total suprise to me. I read this book in one sitting and that doesn't happen a whole lot. I'm now looking for more by this author because her story telling is just that good! This book is definitely going on the "keeper" shelf.
I really wanted to like it. I mean--look at the title! The cover is so cute! However, I felt the characters fell flat. There wasn't enough history woven in. I'm not sure if this is the first of these books, but in a series all the books should have a few sentences where the relationships are explained. I also felt the mystery part fell short. I didn't buy the final reveal (no spoilers) as there were no hints ahead of time, no way to play along. I may try another book to be sure, but I am disappointed that this didn't pan out.
I love Kyra Davis' writing. Her characters are so easy to settle in with and get to know. It takes me 2 chapters to feel comfortable with the characters in most novels, but with Ms. Davis, I feel at home with her characters right away, whether or not the characters are protagonists or antagonists. I can follow the different lines of the story without having to go back pages or chapters in the book. The pacing of her writing is fantastic. I will definitely read more of her novels, and look forward to more Sophie stories.
