But Inside I'm Screaming Elizabeth Flock 9780778322108 Books

Where to start?...........this is really hard, as the book started from the middle then out. Which was the only way to do it! This is the third book that I've read of Elizabeth Flock and I have enjoyed all of them.

This story should be read by anyone who has had depression in their family. This will take you down the road from the patient's point of view, then brings you through the various trials and tribulations that he/she has gone through. So many ask how or why, this book will tell you not only the how, and why, but also the who. There are so many ways for a person to reach their breaking point, it's just a matter of time and circumstances.

I really don't want to give away the story, but Isabelle's breakdown happened on live television. This is a MUST READ BOOK.............But Inside I'm Screaming.

But Inside I'm Screaming Elizabeth Flock 9780778322108 Books Reviews

Good read. A display of how treatment for mental disorders, medicinal & talk-therapy do work. And in insight into life in the the world beyond the medicinal facility.
Most boring book I've ever read! Couldn't even get through it Gave it twelve chapters and quit. What a terrible story Read like a child's book
Entertaining and in formative. As mother of a bipolar child I was especially interested in what to expect if or when my loved one requires this level of care.
For anyone grappling with depression or having friends and family suffer, this is a brilliant book. Thoughtfully told and entertaining it is both tragic and hopeful. Don't be put off by the subject matter sometimes 'just get your haircut and you will feel better' doesn't work and this helps one understand why. I loved it.
I picked this book for my psychology class.... we had to pick about that would relate to psychology and write a book report. I will admit this is not the kind of book that I would normally run and pick up. However I ended up liking the book very much.
This book relates to the reality of depression among other psychological problems. Where at first I was very fustrated with the main character, towards the end I found myself feeling sympathy for her.
Not a bad book..
Rated a 5 star read because it's freaking awesome! Unless one has experienced overwhelming sadness and defeat more than one time, one remains on the outside with empathy....mostly because sympathy is a big concession.
I have never in all my years of reading have ever given a book a one star review - this book was bad and got worse and worse - the main character "falls apart" and then goes to a mental facility. Everything about this book rings false - from what happened to make this woman so "crazy" to her bout in the mental facility - throughout the whole book she continually lets the reader know that she is "better" than the other people in the mental facility.
I had a serious bout with depression once and was hospitalized for a week - while they have certain things correct (like when you walk in they do go through your stuff to make sure there's nothing dangerous with you, curling irons included) but when I went - I was depressed!! In no way shape or form was I evaluating other people, I could barely hold my head up and it took a looong time for me to come around even to talk and then I was GRATEFUL that people listened whoever they were, be it staff or patients, they all gave me something valuable and inspirational. It seemed like the author was "downing" some of the patients. I could not understand that at all...
I found that extremely condescending and just not accurate; the patients say "oh they will do it for you because you are so great" literally!! It's in the book - belive me - no one in a mental facility is going to tell another person how GREAT they are - people are usually so wrapped up in depression...my point is this was a horribly inaccurate portrayal of mental depression and I am surprised that it was published. SO many good books out there on the subject (Girl Interrupted is one I see frequently used to portray depression, Its just been a long time since I've read that one) but please do yourself a favor. This book is just bad all the way around. I hate to even say that because as an artist - this is an artists work I would hope or is it just someone writing so that they can be published? I don't know but I do not recommend this book.
